One of the most popular German aircraft engines of World War I.

The engine was equipped with double, two nozzles and two float chambers carburettor, each supplying three cylinders. Possessed a central camshaft.

The Mercedes D powered the Albatros D.III, Pfalz D.III and Junkers CL.I aircraft.
