An improved version of the Hispano-Suiza 12M from late 1920s. An example of a high-power, light engine envisaged to power fighters. Six carburettors (one for two cylinders) enabled the best feeding system and the increase of performance. From the other side it complicated the engine's service. The engine's lay-out enabled to place the armament, firing through the reduction gear and the propeller shaft.
Different variants of Hispano-Suiza 12X powered many aircraft of the 1930s, e.g. Dewoitine D.500, SPAD S.510.
