Aircraft engine: Lyulka AL-7F

Lyulka AL-7F
USSR
jet engine
1959

The engine was designed at the Saturn construction bureau of Archip Ljulka. He was one of the biggest specialists of the axial booster turbojets.

The engine was intended to power supersonic aircraft. Considering its construction it was best suited to bombers and transport aircraft, however it was used in the Sukhoi Su-7 fighter-bomber.

The engine was characterized by a very big fuel consumption which presented a big disadvantage. The maximum thrust was about 10 ton.

The AL-7 is the largest turbojet engine in the Museum's collection.
