The engine was designed at Brandenburgische Motorenwerke company, which was established in Berlin by Siemens GmbH in 1936 and took over Siemens’ aircraft engine division. It had steel cylinders and aluminum cylinder heads and was fitted with a supercharger and fuel injection. The Bramo Fafnir was used in Dornier Do 17, Do 19 and Do 24T aircraft. Archive:
